ACHIEVING
A CONSISTENT PSD IN SODIUM SULFITE FINE GRINDING
Sodium Sulfite (Na2SO3)
is used as an oxygen absorber throughout many industries.
A worldwide packaging company was interested in utilizing
Sodium Sulfite as a means to prolong their product's shelf
life. For their application, the material was required in
a very fine powder form in order to facilitate blending with
other materials prior to final processing into the packaging
itself. The desired particle size distribution (PSD) was to
be 100% below 100 µm at approximately 100 lbs/hr. Other
technologies had been researched, such as jet mills, but the
equipment could not achieve the same tight PSD bell curve
within the specified range.
The Quadro® Fine Grind F10 achieved 100% below 100 micron
with a capacity of 178 lbs/hr. The Quadro® Fine Grind
F10 is a complete stand-alone process plant that affords benefits
to the processor including savings through reduced downtime,
minimal space requirements, rapid product changeover and enhanced
process efficiency. Other advantages include quick disassembly
for maintenance, tool change and cleaning, low power consumption
as compared to traditional mills, and low noise. The Model
F10 promotes uniform grinding capabilities producing higher
yields on specification, and has a wide tooling selection
to meet all grinding requirements.
