Application Bulletin QV07
Quadro Vac

CONVEYING OF MINOR INGREDIENTS

Background / Requirement

The minor ingredients to be conveyed were a mixture of a white, dry, fine powder with some orange powder mixed in. The customer’s requirements were to convey the minor ingredients 14 ft vertically and 10 feet horizontally at a transfer rate of 650 lb/hr.

Quadro Vac Performance

Two different scenarios were examined to determine the best possible configuration for the product to be conveyed. In the first scenario,a model 820 Quadro Vac with a 3 Hp pump, 1 1/2“ lines and a 1 1/2“ pick up wand were used. In the second scenario the product was conveyed through a model 810 Quadro Vac, with 1 1/2“ lines and a 1 1/2“ pick up wand. Both tests utilized a 10 gallon pail discharge.

In both scenarios, the desired transfer rate was exceeded. With the 820, a transfer rate of approximately 7 times the desired rate was obtained with a vertical distance of 5 ft and a horizontal distance of 6 ft. With the smaller 810 model, a transfer rate of 2500 lb/hr was obtained with a vertical distance of 5 ft and a horizontal distance of 6 ft. There was no apparent build-up of powder dust on any of the Quadro Vac components in either case.

Summary

The Quadro Vac is highly efficient in the conveying of minor ingredients in a dust-free, sanitary environment, using a venturi run on available plant compressed air or a pump. The 810 model will more than meet the desired capacity requirements.
