Background / Requirement
Bread crumbs are used to coat various types of food products such as clam strips, shrimp, fish and chicken. A typical process would include coating the food with a wet, sticky liquid (eg. egg/milk mixture) to ensure that the breading would adhere to the food pieces. The food pieces are then placed on wire mesh conveyor belts where the dry breadcrumb mixture is sprinkled on. Oversized damp breading (mixture of dry breadcrumbs and wet liquid mixture) are removed and discarded, leaving a uniform coating of breading on the food pieces.
Comil
Performance
The Comil was used to size reduce the oversized damp
breading to allow for reclaim of the breading. This
is accomplished easily when the damp breading is mixed
with some “virgin” dry breadcrumb mixture. This has
resulted in great savings for the customer because the
damp breading used to be discarded in large quantities
daily. The payback period for this customer was less
than 6 months.
Summary
This is a proven application. The customer rented a
Comil model for testing and has since purchased
a Comil for this application. |
