SOYA BEAN MILLING

Background/Requirement

A large soya bean processor approached Quadro with an application to size reduce raw, soaked (wet) soya beans to 100% (-) 20 U.S. Standard mesh (850 micron) at 550 pounds per hour (250 kg/hr). Before the milling stage, the raw soya beans were to be soaked in water until swollen and softened (cooked or steamed would suffice).

Comil Performance

The Quadro Comil, after extensive laboratory testing, was found to produce an excellent product utilizing two milling stages. This can be accomplished either with a multimill (2 Comils in line) or with two passes through one unit.

A small amount of water was fed to the Comil along with the beans.

This produces a white milky liquid with maximum .032 inch particulate suspended throughout. The finished liquid can be filtered to remove the solids content and the milk further processed as finished soya milk product.

Summary

This Comil has been working totally to the processor’s satisfaction. He particularly likes the Comil’s quick and easy set-up, cleanability and sanitary design.
